60 REMSEN STREET COOPERATIVE APARTMENTS

Brooklyn, NY

DESIGN: 2008

CONSTRUCTION: 2009

CLIENT: 60 Remsen Street Housing Corporation / Halstead Management Company

Located in the Brooklyn Heights Landmark District, the entrance and sidewalk improvments were developed in accordance with the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission guidelines. The scope included replacement of 1200 sf of sidewalk, the expansion of the foundation garden beds with raised brick curb walls to match the building, and repair and pointing of two separate apartment entrances that flank the building’s main entrance. The new landscape is a mix of shade tolerant evergreen and deciduous material with room for rotating seasonal plantings. Located just a few blocks from New York Harbor, the plant selection is hardy to withstand the exposed location.
