Greenwich American Center , CT
Reimagining a former country estate-turned-corporate campus was the task set before us with this sweeping 155-acre property straddling the New York-Connecticut state line.
The client, Tishman Speyer, desired making the 120 acres of natural area more accessible to the rest of the campus, adding athletic and recreational amenities and improvements for current tenant use and as a draw for new ones.
Included in the finished design is a network of multi-purpose recreation trails throughout the properties’ varied terrain and untouched woodlands, to be phased in over time. To date, a portion of the woodland trail network has been developed and now links to the existing wetland road and American Lane path to create a challenging, scenic two-mile loop.
Enhancements to the campus’ existing basketball and picnic areas include new furniture, lighting and plantings which encourage day and evening recreation and event use. Meanwhile, new strategically placed deciduous specimen trees and seasonally blooming shrubs enhance the arrival experience, leading to the main building entrance with its replanted border beds.
