Forest Hills Gardens, NY

Owners desired a reimagined 2,925 SF rear yard, complimenting the grace and style of the impeccably kept 1926 Tudor-style private home while still meeting stringent design and zoning covenants of this landmark planned garden community. Our design features year-around interest, combining greenspace and amenities suited to entertaining family and friends.

The outdoor casual lounge space is defined by a brick-bordered bluestone terrace with overhead pergola, detailed as an extension of the home’s glass-enclosed sunroom. A generous landing off the kitchen holds an outdoor grill and stairs leading to terrace entertainment areas and lawn bordered by an informal mix of evergreen and deciduous trees and shrubs, edged with seasonal blooming perennials and groundcovers. Comfortably cushioned teak furniture and accessories complete the terrace’s form and function.

Matching Japanese Maple tree specimens, placed in close proximity to the terrace, filter and frame garden views and offer shade, accented by various blooming foliage. Finally, well-placed accent lighting highlight tree specimens, use areas and pergola detailing, year-around.
